
On September 24, 2010 nationally known quilt designer, magazine editor,
author, and TV personality, Marianne Fons will be the featured speaker for
our Tenth Anniversary celebration. Ms. Fons will examine the motivations
of American quilters from 1776 to the present day. Be prepared for an
entertaining and informative discussion and slide show!
The presentation will be held at the Minneart Auditorium on the campus of
South Sound Puget College (Building 21), directions here. It is scheduled
from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm with time for questions and answers, a “meet &
greet” and autograph session.
The public is invited to this presentation. Tickets must be purchased
through the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. The cost to guild
members is $10 and non-members is $20, including a $2.50 handling fee.

Marianne Fons is co-editor-in-chief of Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting
magazine, which has a circulation of over 300,000. With Liz Porter, she
hosts the popular public television series of the same name. Fons and Porter
are authors of many best-selling quilting books including Quilter’s Complete
Guide, which has sold over a half million copies.
1986 Great American Quilt Contest with her
Lady Liberty Medallion quilt. Her World Peace
quilt won Best of Overall Workmanship at the
first Quilt Expo Europa contest in Salzburg,
Austria in 1988. Marianne is a life member of
the Iowa Quilters Guild and was on the steering
committee of her state’s Iowa Quilters Research
Project. She serves on the boards of the
International Quilt Association and the
International Quilt Study Center located in
Lincoln, Nebraska.
